I’m One Candidate Who Stands Firm in My Commitment to Public Safety (Rep. Paul Hodes)
October 7th, 2008
Today is a great day for my campaign. I am pleased to announce that I have earned the support of the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire. The 2,000 professional firefighters and paramedics represented by PFFNH are true New Hampshire heroes. They put their lives on the line every single day in order to make all of our communities safer places to live and work.
I am proud to have earned their support for several reasons. I am proud because it is an acknowledgment of my commitment to public safety. The Professional Fire Fighters endorse individuals based on their merits and their commitment to the issues that matter most to them. I have supported the SAFER Act and the FIRE Act, bills which would put more first responders on our streets and which would provide them with the tools and equipment that they need in order to protect themselves as they work hard to protect us.
I am also proud because of the Firefighters’ legendary organizational strength. They don’t just lend their name and public support to the candidates they endorse - they roll up their sleeves and work with them to help them win. From now through November 4th, I know that New Hampshire’s bravest will be standing with me at every step of my campaign. This is because they have an active and engaged membership, including 1,200 men and women who live and work in New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District, and they have exceptional leadership from their president, my friend Dave Lang.
In my race they have sent a clear message that I am the one candidate who stands firm in my commitment to public safety, and in making sure that we do everything we can to honor the work of those that keep us safe and keep our promises to them.
