Hispanics are Pivotal Voting Bloc This Fall (Rep. Henry Cuellar)

July 15th, 2008

Hispanics are the fastest growing minority population in the United States, and for the race in November, they are playing an increasingly significant role in selecting the next president. The growing number of eligible Hispanic voters, in combination with their densities in battleground states, positions Hispanics as a pivotal voting bloc this fall.

I am pleased to see that both Barack Obama and John McCain recognize the significance of votes cast by the Hispanic community. In their addresses to La Raza this week, each has acknowledged that our community is not monolithic. We represent a diversity of thoughts and concerns, and we share our greatest concerns with all Americans.
