Race for the Cure in Honor of the Late Jo Ann Davis (Rep. Tom Davis)
May 20th, 2008
A few weeks ago my personal office and the minority staff of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee decided to participate in the 2008 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the annual 5K event . We did so in honor of my colleague and fellow Virginian, the late Jo Ann Davis, who succumbed to a long struggle with breast cancer late last year. Since then, the outpouring of support has been wonderful. We were then joined by staff from the office of Darrel Issa, who serves with me on the Committee.
Offices and individuals who have not yet joined the Race for the Cure can do it tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the VFW Washington, 200 Maryland Avenue, NE (2nd Street, NE). Participants also can still register online. If you’re feeling unattached, we still have room on our team.
For more information on One-Stop Registration locations and this year’s Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure, call 703.416.RACE (7223) or visit their website.
As of today, 31 congressional offices have formed Race teams: Rep. Rodney Alexander; House Appropriations Committee majority staff; House Appropriations Committee minority staff; the Architect of the Capitol Senate Superintendent’s Office; Rep. Joe Baca; Rep.
