Haiti, the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, has been overwhelmed by malnutrition, famine, poverty and violence. Haiti is our neighbor and deserves prompt food aid, debt relief and Temporary Protective Status (TPS). We have sent a letter to President Bush and spoken with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to convey the dire urgency of crisis and appeal for expedient relief.
Haiti needs the following basic commodities during the next six months to meet the needs of the people:
- 30,000 metric tons of rice per month
- 15,000 metric tons of wheat per month
- 7,000 metrics tons of cooking oil per month
Haitian President Preval is asking for:
- US Assistance with Drug Trafficking (DEA Help)
- Temporary Protected Status for Haitians
