McCain is the Strongest Candidate (Rep. John Shimkus)
February 6th, 2008
John McCain showed that he can win coast-to-coast by coming out on top in New York and California and in the heart of our nation by winning in Illinois, Missouri, and Oklahoma. His strength on the issues of controlling frivolous spending and keeping our nation strong were reasons many of us voted for him yesterday.
While many will analyze the Super Tuesday results, John McCain won more Super Tuesday states than any other Republican candidate, and amassed a huge delegate lead over his opponents. This primary season has been one that forced McCain and the other candidates to fight for each and every vote - and that is a good thing for our party and for our eventual nominee.
I believe that John McCain will end up being the nominee, and he is our strongest candidate to put forward in November.
