Wins From Four Key States Will Put Obama Ahead (Rep. Arthur Davis)

February 5th, 2008

Today is a very pivotal day in the democratic presidential race. There are a lot of states that are very close, in fact of the twenty-two states in as many as twelve or thirteen, the candidates may be within 3 points of each other.

Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have had to deal with running close to a national campaign and the candidates have had to spread themselves thin. They have had to rely more on television advertising, a stark contrast to their campaigns in Iowa and New Hampshire. Their campaigns leading up to Super Tuesday has been a lot more like the general election, and we will see what effect that will have.

I have endorsed Senator Obama and I am very hopeful of today. It’s likely the results will be a mixed bag. If Senator Obama is able to break through in Massachusetts and Connecticut, two states where he has been thirty points behind, where he was given virtually no chance, and if he can win in Missouri, exactly the kind of state the democrats need to contest in November, and California then I think he will be on the verge of putting a grip on the democratic nomination.
