Our economy is in desperate need of an infusion of cash. This stimulus package is a win-win – it will provide individuals with an opportunity to address their needs while stimulating the economy. As the economy begins the slow process of turning around, it is imperative that we protect families from foreclosure while shoring up the housing market. My constituents, whose cost of living is considerably above the national level, will benefit significantly from the expansion of the mortgage loan limits through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and improved loan opportunities through FHA. For New Yorkers, this component of the package is essential.
