‘All Carrots, No Stick’ Policy Is Dangerously Irresponsible (Rep. Lynn Westmoreland)

November 14th, 2007

The Congress needs to stay closely involved in monitoring the development of weapons in Iran. Unfortunately, the goal of today’s hearing is to oppose the use of any type of force, at any time, against Iran. Iran must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons, and I agree with President Bush that we must pursue a diplomatic solution to that end. However, I believe it is dangerously irresponsible to promote the Democrats’ ‘all carrots, no stick’ policy of taking military actions off the table.
