Why Veto Veterans’ Funding in a $3 Trillion Budget?
November 7th, 2007
House Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Bob Filner (D-Calif.) asks why President Bush would veto the one appropriations bill he said wouldn’t — veterans’ spending.
House Democrats have lumped veterans’ spending into an omnibus bill that also includes funding for the Department of Labor, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Department of Education. Bush has objected to the Labor and HHS funding requests, and has said he will veto the entire spending bill unless Democrats ask for less money.
