Women Senators Are Not a Caucus, They Are a Force
November 17th, 2006
This week, I brought the women Senators together for my traditional, bipartisan Senate Women Power Workshop. There are now a record 16 women serving in the U.S. Senate. Can you believe it? When I was elected to the Senate in 1986, I became the 16th woman to serve in the Senate. Now there are as many of us here all at one time.
I started my power workshops in 1992 to make sure that new female Senators have the tools they need to succeed in the U.S. Senate. The women Senators are not a caucus, we’re a force. We hold powerful leadership and committee positions, and work in coalition to get things done with civility and respect. We believe that every issue is a woman’s issue.
